Calling all healers: write for TOROZ

Around six weeks ago we put out a call for writers to join the TOROZ team. Since then we’ve welcomed Tim (covering Inquisitors and Consulars), Kate (Agent/Smuggler), Tim (Weekly SWTOR roundup) and Rick (Guilds) on board.

It’s a growing family but it still feels like there’s someone missing and it might be you. We’re looking for a healer who’s willing to have a crack at a weekly column tackling everything heals.  Preferably someone who plays both Empire and Republic characters, although if you’re Empire only you’re still in with a big chance.

So if you’d like to express interest, here’s what you do:

1. Use our contact form and provide the following info:

– ideally submit a sample of your writing or at least a pitch on what you’d like to write and why

– tell us a little bit about yourself – similar in vein to the bios on our About page.

– what day and time of the week is best for you to submit a column

2. Wait patiently for us to get back to you – it should only take a day or two.

3. See points 1 and 2.

Don’t hesitate – do it now. You know it makes sense 😉

Oceanic server forums added to TOROZ

Our forums aren’t the most active at times but there’s a dedicated bunch who do frequent them. A number of them commented in our (still open) Reader Survey that they’d like to see local server forums – and that’s what we’ve done.

There’s a forum for each of the three local servers and we’ll obviously add new forums once other servers come on line.

They’re looking pretty bare at the moment and the only thing that’ll fix that is you – so jump on in if you have the time!

Reminder: Reader’s Survey

As we discussed last week, we’re really keen to get your input on what we do here at TOROZ, so if you have a couple of minutes we’d be extremely grateful if you could fill out our survey.

You can elect to go into the draw to win a TOROZ t-shirt of your choice as well, so it’s a potential win-win situation!
I’d also like to thank all those that have filled in the survey so far – we’ve already made a couple of improvements to the site based on some of the feedback, and I’m sure we’ll be making plenty more. Finally – we will publish the results of the key survey areas once we’ve wrapped it all up.

So jump into the survey below or you can also use this direct link if need be.

TOROZ Reader Survey: help us get better and maybe win a prize!

Now that TOROZ has been around a while, it’s time to stand naked before our audience and see how many holodancers or light sabers are thrown at us. Seriously though, we’re extremely interested in finding out what you like and don’t like about what we do, so we can do a better job.

To get your thoughts, we’ve set up a 22-question Reader Survey, which we’d greatly appreciate you filling in. Aside from you doing a great community deed, anyone happy enough to provide their email address in the survey will go into a draw to win one either of the t-shirts shown here OR an equivalent value donation to

The survey close on the 17th March, so please jump in by filling it in right here on this page or by accessing this direct link.

Thank you!

TOROZ iPad and iPhone app gets an update

In case you didn’t realise, we have our own iPad and iPhone app that provides RSS feeds of SWTOR fansites and related resources. We’ve added a couple of sites and deleted a few that are no longer active.

If you’d like your site added, just contact us with the details of your site – ideally including its RSS feed URL. We’ll check it out and if the RSS feed works with our app, we’ll add it.

Position Vacant: Flash Point Co-Host

You may not have followed the thread on our forums or heard our discussion on Episode 11 of Flash Point, but we’re in the hunt for a third amigo / amigoette to join as co-host for our self-award winning fornightly podcast.

Here’s who we’re looking for:

1. Someone Oceanic i.e. someone based in Australia, New Zealand or close by that can legitimately claim to be Oceanic. If you’re an expat overseas, you’re certainly welcome to apply.

2. Someone who has a decent working knowledge of Star Wars lore. It doesn’t need to be encyclopaedic, as we already have someone covering that (Hi Ed!). We also don’t need a dunderhead with barely a grasp of the Star Wars Universe outside of the movies and toys (hey, I resemble that remark!).

3. Someone who is confident to talk publicly. What I mean by this is not only do you need to have an obvious personality, but you need to be able to talk coherently, without endless ‘ums’, ‘ahhs’ and so on. Don’t worry if you think you sound silly, that’s for me to determine, but do make sure you can come across at least as well as Ed or I – it’s a pretty low base to work from so I’m sure you’ll be ok. Just as an aside for regular listeners: I do edit the podcast to remove the odd long pause or excessive um. You don’t have to be perfect by any means but there’s a limit!

4. Someone who is opinionated. If you just tend to agree with whatever someone else says, please don’t apply…..

5. Someone who is female. This isn’t absolutely compulsory but I think some sort of gender balance would be nice. If you’re not of the female persuasion please don’t let that put you off applying. And please, no genital removal to become female unless you were going to have it done anyway by a reputable surgeon. We don’t pay enough to warrant something as drastic as that.

6. Speaking of pay, you need to be willing to work for nothing – at least for now. If accepted to be a co-host you would receive an equal share (after costs) of any revenue the podcast generates. At present that is zero but we can only dream!

If I haven’t turned you off applying, here’s what you need to do:

1. Create a 1-3 minute sound file of yourself talking. That piece should be an introduction piece saying a little bit about yourself, where your based and what you’re looking forward to with SWTOR. Basically sell yourself. If for some reason you can’t record yourself, then drop me a line via email to discuss a live Skype hookup.

2. Email said 3 minute piece to that includes details on your hours or days of availability to record the podcast.

Applications close Friday 22nd July at 8pm AEST.
