Mists of Pandaria Cinematic Trailer Released

It’s been a while coming, but Blizzard have release the cinematic trailer for next month’s Mists of Pandaria expansion.

Enjoy!

Over to you: what are your thoughts? Is the cinematic more or less than you expected?

A History Of The Pandaren

I just came across this video that does a superb job of summarising the history of the Pandaren. If you want a lore injection before you jump into Mists of Pandaria in September, then this is probably a great place to start. Enjoy!

Into The Vault

As you know. we love a good piece of community-created machinima, particularly one that involves an ensemble cast of voice actors/singers. That’s exactly what you get with Into The Vault.

The video’s creator, Kaisa, had this to say:

I just completed a parody video set within the Star Wars: The Old Republic universe…It uses music from Into the Woods and tells the story of Soa from the Eternity Vault operation zone.

Musical performances by Brian Cimmet, Mariclare Hoffman, Stefan Johnston, Kathleen Regan, and Kassie Bracken. Lyrics by Henry Chang. The footage was all taken using members of my guild, Pandamonium, on the Corellian Run server.

Enough talk, enjoy it for yourself:

Over to you: did you like it?

Machinima: Sith Marauder PvP

One of the things I’ve most been looking forward to with the launch of SWTOR, is the coming torrent of machinima from the game. That includes some good overviews of gameplay, and one such example comes from Oceanic player Klinda, who’s put some of his better moments as a PvP’ing Sith Marauder to some music and produced this:

I’m pretty sure I’ve been killed a number of times by damn Sith Maurauders but it’s fun viewing anyway. If you’ve got your own machinima you’d like to share, post it in comments!

SWTOR Machinima and AC/DC

One of the things I’m most looking forward to with SWTOR is the community created content, particularly machinima creations. One such creation is Spoiling for a Fight by SWTOR forums member XaarDun.

On the face of it, this is some of the limited quantity, well-viewed footage released to date by Bioware, with an AC/DC song for backing.

Beyond that though, is a piece that’s had quite a bit of effort put into its sequencing and timing, and it’s those aspects that make it worth a look. And hell, I’m a sucker for an AC/DC song as well. XaarDun modestly says he whipped this up quickly, but if that’s the case then I’m looking forward to seeing his more in-depth creations.

Anyway, onto Spoiling for a Fight:

As always, we’d love to hear about your creations as well.

Help re-create A New Hope

A big thanks to Darka on the forums, who posted a link to Star Wars Uncut. It’s a great crowdsourcing project where anyone has the opportunity to recreate a 15-second slice of the original Star Wars movie.

Whether it’s Lego, live action or Star Wars figures, you can end up part of a fan-generated replica of A New Hope. Some of the results are superb, others are hilarious and some are both. I for one am now desperate to see the final product – it will have to be one of the viral movie efforts of the decade. Check it out for yourself, or view a couple of sample scenes right now:

Star Wars in Second Life

A lot of people may be unaware that the virtual world of Second Life has a community of Star Wars roleplayers. The video below shows one such community. The Dantooine Jedi Enclave is an impressive piece of work, particularly as it was created from scratch, like anything in Second Life.

Have a look for yourself:

We’d love to hear from Star Wars roleplayers in Second Life, and feel free to mention your work there in the comments.

SWTOR Guild recruitment goes to a new level

Torment Gaming are actively trying to put together some guilds for SWTOR, and they’ve gone to quite a bit of trouble to tell you. Once more gameplay footage is released by BioWare, expect a lot more of these to show up:
