Bioware’s no Grinch: SWTOR Grace Period returns

Overnight, Bioware’s founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have jointly announced that there’ll now be a 48-hour grace period for anyone who has pre-ordered SWTOR.

What does that mean for you? Once the 20th December rolls around, you’ll now have 48 hours to enter the code from your physical copy of SWTOR (or your digital copy if you’ve somehow organised one).

So on top of yesterday’s announcement that Amazon orders will ship a little earlier, Oceanic players who pre-ordered via Amazon can expect the product a number of days earlier than previously expected. The post also emphasises there is no option to extend the grace period beyond the 48 hours.

It’s an encouraging sign that Bioware have reacted relatively quickly to community feedback – a key part of success in any MMO.

WHat do you think?

  1. What do I think?

DASLKFJDOIFENAOWIENIFAJSDFKASVO! Faith in BioWare is returning! Though honestly not sure why we ever had all these problems.

  2. From my Amazon order it still says up to 12th January for delivery – does that mean I can play up to around 22nd December, but then not again until I get my physical order?

    • Yep that’s pretty much the case although I’m somewhat optimistic the copies will arrive on the earlier end of the date spectrum…

  3. Got an email from Amazon saying that my CE is on its way and should arrive on Dec 21, so theoretically I shouldn’t have any downtime now with the grace period.

Of course, because I’m going home for the holidays I’ll be missing a week anyway :P.

  4. My CE was shipped today as well from Amazon. With the 48hour grace, lets hope I have minimal down time 🙂

I order the Standard Edition with express shipping. Amazon has already shipped my copy and it has a “Best Case Scenario” of arriving 21st of december. So if all goes well (and from here on out it is the couriers who have the responsiblity) then I shouldn’t have any downtime at all. I was accepting of a 1 day downtime whilst I waited for my physical copy, and as long as it turned up before the holidays that start on the 25th then I wasn’t really concerned.

But this is good news that Bioware is willing to negotiate on important issues like this and listen to the feedback (good and bad) from their client base.
