PlanetSide 2 Hits Beta

Sony Online Entertainment’s PlanetSide 2 is currently in beta. As a FPS MMO it’s gaining quite a bit of attention. If you haven’t seen it already, here’s the E3 trailer that gives some good glimpses of the game:

You can still apply for a beta key, and if you’re already playing, let us know how it’s going for you! Also – are you Terran Republic, New Conglomerate or Vanu Sovereignty?

UPDATE: Sony’s John Smedley has said Australia-based PS2 servers are a possibility.

  1. Nice work David. Good to see PS2 getting some love here on Oceanic Gamer. I’ve been fishing for a beta code for weeks – following the guys at SoE on Twitter and finally I landed one a couple of days ago. But here’s the kicker – I couldn’t register it. Error after error greeted my multiple attempts to adorn my Station Account with the much sought after beta code. I opened a support ticket (which remains open), but in the meantime I figured it out (I think). See I went back to the SoE gent who gave me the first beta code and told him it didn’t work – so he was kind enough to issue me with another. Rushed back to register that one again again… no joy. So on a hunch I opened another Station Account, but this time I selected North America as my location… voila… everything worked just fine.

So… upshot is it’s SWTOR all over again!

I kid… not that bad, it’s only beta and SoE’s John Smedley said on Twitter today: ‘Aussies… we are looking at a server somewhere in your fine country if there are enough of you that want to play.’

Fingers crossed we’ll be OK, cause I think this game is going to be big.

  2. This game is tits. There are also a lot of real service men and women playing game. Makes for a pretty interesting fight at times.

  3. Yep, my guild Harlequin is currently enjoying some beta action in PS2. Everyone is really excited about it. Many of us were Ps1 vets or GA vets so we cant wait for the release. Between that and GW2, I think we will have lots of fun to go around!
